Unit 1. LO3. research into codes and conections of a magazine front cover

Complete the sheet handed out by Mr Dougan and upload to your blog ( remember your blog is actually a unit called 'creating an on line profile' and as such needs to be kept up to date to fulfill a pass):

You need to justify your observations on differences and similarities for the TWO magazine that you look at, for example :

• You could write ' both magazines have a Masthead'

or

• ' both magazines use the convention of placing the Masthead at the top of the page and use about a 5th of the cover in order to ensure that the magazine is easily identifiable to the target audience'

 Make sure you look at the genre of magazine you would like to create for a final product

Choices are:

• new music magazine
• fashion magazine
• or  school magazine.

Mrs McDonald-Holmes will re- handout the exam paper on Thursday's lesson and the deadline for completion is Monday the 5th November

1. Write down a one-sentence definition, and then compare it with the person that is sitting next to you. 
Is digital media about platforms, devices or different audiences?

2. What’s the difference between digital media and traditional media? 
What’s changed over the last 10-15 years in TV, Film, Video Games, Magazines and Newspapers, Websites and Social Media and Radio?

3. Then go to Wikipedia’s definition - read the first paragraph and discuss it in class.

4. Compare the definition with ‘What is Digital Media?’ by the Centre for Digital Media.
